Rives Audio & Partners Donate to Elf

February 14, 2006 - Hollywood, CA

When it comes to 'sound ideas', leave it to Richard Rives Bird to come up with a winning proposal. Mr. Bird heads up the award winning acoustical engineering firm of Rives Audio and his philosophy of doing the right thing for his clients has inspired a group of friendly competitors to band together and make a yearly donation to a worthy non-profit charity. This year they have chosen to benefit the Elf Foundation in support of the charity's 'Room of Magic' theater program designed to bring the magic of music and film to sick kids across the country.

Mr. Bird's inspiration came about as a logical extension of his firm's philosophy. Rives Audio designs acoustic spaces and even though such spaces require the purchase of acoustic materials which they specify, his firm declines commissions from any sales so as not be influenced or biased in their design concepts.

"We've always been comfortable with our decision to concentrate exclusively on design and not benefit from materials or construction costs," said Richard Rives Bird. "After I thought about it, I approached several acoustical materials manufacturers and suggested they might want to donate those commissions to a charitable cause and they all thought that was a great idea. This year, we're proud to partner with RPG, Real Traps, Quest Acoustics and Audio Alloy in support of the tremendous efforts of the Elf Foundation."

Acoustical materials manufacturers Audio Alloy, Quest Acoustics, Real Traps and RPG specialize in providing products that are integrated in spaces that include concert halls, recording studios, restaurants, schools, homes, and even airplanes, just to name a few applications where audio plays a vital role in the environment. Their support of the Elf Foundation's 'Room of Magic' theater program is a logical extension of their work and the group's 2006 donations will exceed $6,000.

"We're happy to contribute this year to Elf's mission of designing and building private entertainment theaters for sick kids all over North America," said Ted White, vice president of sales for Audio Alloy. "These theaters are used to alleviate some of the boredom and anxiety kids experience when cooped up in a hospital. What's really neat is that a bunch of us who work with each other on a daily basis can collectively contribute something positive as a group."
